Croquet Update 12 June

The Rotary Club of Wem were entertained at the Church Farm Sports ground on 12th June.   Home advantage really told and although each hoop was contested strongly Wellington 1 were winners 5-1 (41-18)

Telford & Wrekin Young Carers

Rotary Wellington were pleased to welcome Telford Young Carers manager, Laura Thorogood, and Young Carers Activities Volunteer, Gary Brewer, to their meeting on Friday 1st June. President Brian Richards presented them with a cheque for £1250 to help fund their work. The money was raised at the annual Rotary Wellington Sportsman Night.

Visit to Dapol Model Railway Company

A small band of members and a couple of guests including Peter Martin and Brian Lewis visited the Dapol model railway factory at Chirk on 30th May. We met and lunched at the local Wyevale Garden Centre before moving on to the Dapol shop and factory where we were made very welcome.

Croquet Update

A team led by Rob Evan, David Tomkinson, Peter Williams, Andy Kaleta, John Cooper ( a late replacement) and this correspondant travelled to Whitchurch on Friday 11th May.   A close fought match tilted in our favour as the weather grew colder and wetter.    Thankfully Whitchurch had laid on a supurb buffet and did't seem to mind us taking the honours 4-2.

Blood Bike Delivery

“All Blood Bikes have a name - this new machine is called ‘Spirit of Rotary’”. With these words Chair of the Rotary Clubs of Telford Trust Fund, Paul Booth unveiled the new BMW motorbike at Telford Town Centre on Saturday 5th May. Rotarian Paul continued, “ I was privileged to unveil the new Blood Bike, ‘Spirit of Rotary’, on its handover. Of all the many Rotary projects I have been involved in over the last 25 years, none has given me as much satisfaction.
