Street Collection for Polio Plus

Vic reports that we were lucky with the weather and, like all traders in the town, somewhat disadvantaged by the number of empty shops in the town, especially, in The Square, however a total of £251.77 was collected.


Tour & Tea at Weston Park

The 1st April was a serious very day for 30 members and friends as we were treated to a tour of the wonderful treasures of Elizabeth's House at Weston Park.   Our guides Val and Pat took us back in time with views of paintins by Stubbs, Constable and others and spoke of the dubious political dealings involving the Great Seal of James 11.

Ten Pin Success

Rob Evans writes:
Wellington met a very good team from Wolverhampton in the final. John Banks had an injury to force a last minute change. Brian Richards came in and was on fire!!!!!
John Wardle came back and the ever reliable Andy, Keith and Dan did well. Cyril completed the team.

Sportsman Night 2019


 The club's annual Sportsman Night was held at Whitehouse Hotel, Watling Street, on Thursday 7th March.   Our guest speaker was Alex Stepney, Manchester United's Goalkeeper for their first European Cup Win.   Here he is with President Peter and Past President Mike Dorricott who has organised the event for many years.

He was supported by comedian Ian Irving seen here with President Peter and Gill.

Snooker Champions 2019

Wellington went to Stafford to play Cannock in the final.

The District snoker cup was presented to a surprised Rob by Alex Stepney on Thursday night.  Match report:

John Banks and Rob got off to a winning start in a tough match. 52-32 . Chris and Keith played well, but lost by one. Dan and Mike came back from the death to pot, blue, pink and black to win by 12.

Tree of Light Distributes £42000 to Local Charities.

The Rotary Telford Tree of Light held its presentation evening, hosted by Rotary Club of Ironbridge President Ian Warburton at the Park House Hotel, Shifnal, on Thursday 28th February. This year the Rotary Telford Tree of Light, which is run by the Rotary Clubs of Ironbridge, Telford Centre, The Wrekin and Wellington celebrated its 23rd campaign.
Chair of the Telford Tree of Light organising committee, Rotarian Max Clowes, said, “We are delighted to announce that this evening the Telford Tree of Light will distribute £42,000 to local charities.”
