Tom Farmer Memorial Cup

On Thursday 3rd May the ladies of The New Saints and Shrewsbury contested for the Tom Farmer Memrial Cup watch by Maureen, and her two sons Gary and Ian.

Shrewsbury put up a spirited defence

   

with only one up front but with extra time looming TNS managed to put the ball in the net after 2 minutes of the 4 of injury time, and so took the trophy from Gary.

Tree of Light Success

The Rotary Telford Tree of Light held its presentation evening, hosted by Rotary Club of Telford Centre President Sonia Roberts at the Buckatree Hall Hotel on Tuesday 27th March. This year the Rotary Telford Tree of Light, which is run by the Rotary Clubs of Ironbridge, Telford Centre, The Wrekin and Wellington celebrated its 22nd campaign.

Honorary Rotarian Greg

It is announced with much sadness that Honorary Member Guide Dog Greg has passed away.

Greg served Ken  for many years even beyond the recommended age for a working Guide Dog and had a well deserved retirement alongside Sherwood who had taken over his duties.  

Sportsman's Night with Rory Underwood

The Rotary Club of Wellington’s 31st Annual Sportsman’s Night took place at the Telford Whitehouse Hotel on Thursday 22 March. Once again it was organised by Rotarian Mike Dorricott and proved to be a great success.  

C Team Successful

Weliington C have reached the final of the District 1210 Fellowship Quiz.  The team of John Bradley, Peter Murray, Richard Studd and David Lovatt and managed by Rob Evans scored 139 points in their semi-final round finishing 3rd of 30 teams that took part.

As the scores were very close around the threshold to go through to the final it was decided to put the 12 highest scoring teams through to the final.

Congratulations to the 12 teams who will contest the final on Tuesday 15th May 2018. The final will be held at Linden House, Tettenhall.

Tesco Collection for Polio

Members of the Rotary Club of Wellington took part in a collection for the Rotary campaign 'End Polio Now' on Saturday 17th March.  Foundation Chair Geoff Ward writes, "Thank you for your support at the Tesco collection Saturday last in aid of Polio.  The total sum raised was £366.88"

Presentation to Blood Bikes

On Friday 16th March the Club heard about the work of Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire Blood Bikes, an urgent volunteer service providing transportation of blood products, for free, to NHS hospitals across Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire.  SSBB transport a variety of other urgent medical items in addition to blood products, including donated breast milk used to feed premature babies. This is achieved using temperature controlled boxes attached to the bikes.

Quiz at the Duck

A successful Club  Quiz Night took place at the Duck at Allscott on Thursday 22nd February.  Quizmaster Paul Rhodes put 100 questions to teams of 2 in five general knowledge sections.  Questions ranged from giving the name of TinTin's dog [Snowy] to naming the shortest book in the Old Testament [Obadiah].

TREADMILL4PRH PROJECT

The gym at the Princess Royal Hospital Telford provides rehabilitation exercise for patients recovering from operations, accidents, and cardiac incidents, and has two Life Fitness 9500hr treadmills which are an essential part of the exercise program.
